Police Cadet Extinguishes Fire in Limassol Using Cement Mixer

The Republic of Cyprus police have arrested a 57-year-old man suspected of arson in a village near Limassol. A police cadet managed to extinguish the fire using water from a cement mixer.

According to the police press office, the incident occurred around 6:20 AM yesterday. The police cadet was driving along Grigori Afxentiou Street in Pareklisia on his way to the Moni police station. Along the way, he noticed a small fire on the left side of the road. Acting quickly, the cadet used water from a passing cement mixer to put out the flames. The fire had covered about 10 square meters of dry vegetation.

Further investigation, using surveillance footage from the area, led to evidence against a 57-year-old man from the village of Melini in Larnaca province. An arrest warrant was issued.

Later that day, at 6:00 PM, the suspect was arrested by officers from the Moni police station. He was brought in for questioning and taken into custody.
