Cyprus airports will soon feature 12 new free drinking fountains. The water in these fountains will be tested and filtered weekly.

Maria Kouroupi, Marketing Director of Hermes Airports, announced this on CyBC’s morning radio show.

According to Kouroupi, Larnaca Airport will be equipped with eight water stations, while Paphos Airport will have four.

This move was prompted by stalled discussions regarding the regulation of bottled water prices. The proposal, which faced resistance from businesses, is currently on hold due to Parliament’s summer recess.

Currently, Larnaca Airport has two drinking fountains beyond the security checkpoints: one in the remote departure area and another on the upper level. This week, two additional fountains will be installed at gates 23 and 43, with clear signage.

In the next three weeks, four more stations will be added: two in the arrivals hall and two in the check-in area. Meanwhile, Paphos Airport, which already has two stations, plans to add two more at boarding gate 5.
