The Famagusta District Court has banned a 41-year-old man from driving any vehicle after he was twice caught driving under the influence and causing two accidents.

According to a Famagusta police spokesperson, the latest accident involving the offender occurred on Tuesday evening around 10:15 PM. The intoxicated driver was behind the wheel on Kapparis Avenue in Paralimni when he lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into a parked car.

Police who arrived at the scene conducted a blood alcohol test on the driver, revealing a level nearly seven times the legal limit (145 mg instead of the permitted 22 mg). The driver was arrested.

Police noted that in April, the same man was involved in another accident, once again found driving under the influence.

Additionally, on November 4, 2021, this individual was convicted by the Famagusta District Court for the same offense—driving under the influence. His license was suspended for 30 days, and he was sentenced to 45 days in jail.

On Wednesday, the man appeared in court again, where the judge decided to ban him from driving.

The next court hearing for this repeat drunk driver is scheduled for July 2.
