Voting in Cyprus’s parliamentary elections is continuing in Brussels, where 581 voters are registered, along with two staff members responsible for delivering election materials and counting the votes.

According to data as of noon Cyprus time, turnout stood at 20%: 116 people out of 583 registered participants had already cast their ballots. It is noted that these are the first parliamentary elections in Brussels to use a separate ballot box — previously, the overseas polling station was used only in presidential elections.

The voting process is proceeding smoothly. The Brussels ballot box is the only one abroad covering all six of Cyprus’s electoral districts — Nicosia, Famagusta, Limassol, Larnaca, Kyrenia and Paphos. After the polling station closes, votes will be counted separately for each district, and the final results will be sent to Nicosia.

The polling station is located at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union at Avenue de Cortenbergh 61. Voting began at 08:00 local time and will end at 17:00, with a one-hour break from 12:00 to 13:00.

A total of 581 voters are registered. In addition, two staff members who delivered the materials and are responsible for organizing the count have been added to the list. By district, the distribution is as follows: 281 — Nicosia, 112 — Famagusta, 78 — Limassol, 43 — Larnaca, 34 — Paphos and 35 — Kyrenia.

Turnout at the overseas polling station is expected to remain high, as registration abroad is voluntary, which usually ensures active voter participation.
