Cyprus Police are investigating a new case of internet fraud involving messages sent on behalf of the GHS (GESY) healthcare system.

According to law enforcement, scammers are sending SMS messages to citizens claiming a need to "update their profile" in the system. The message contains a link to a fake website where users are asked to enter bank details, allegedly to pay a small fee.

One victim reported that after following the link and entering their details, more than 10,000 euros were debited from their bank account. Only then did they realize they had been scammed.

The investigation is being conducted by the Limassol Police Economic Crime Department.

Police urge citizens to be especially careful and avoid clicking on suspicious links, as well as never entering personal or banking information on unknown websites.

It is also recommended to verify information through official organizational channels before making any online payments. In case of a data breach, contact your bank immediately to prevent further losses.
