The Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus has unveiled a stimulus plan aimed at the qualitative and aesthetic improvement of beaches in 2024.

In the ministry's official statement, it is stated that beaches are one of Cyprus's main advantages as a tourist destination: they are among the most popular beaches in Europe.

The Ministry of Tourism is implementing a series of measures for the sustainable development of beaches, acting as the national coordinator of the "Blue Flag" program.

In addition, the ministry supports the "Sand and Sea without Plastic" initiative, which aims to reduce the amount of plastic on beaches.

It is also reported that as part of the implementation of the Tourism Strategy until 2030, the ministry has opened applications for the Stimulus Plan for projects for the qualitative and aesthetic renovation of beaches in 2024.

The plan includes acceptable expenses such as the purchase of equipment, beach umbrellas and loungers, the arrangement of paths, and the installation of garbage bins. Provision is made for the arrangement of sanitary facilities and changing rooms, as well as facilities for people with limited mobility.

The deadline for applications is set for March 29, 2024. Applications can be submitted electronically to [email protected].
