Foreigner Who Entered TRNC on a Fake Passport Sent to Jail After Car Accident
In Northern Cyprus, a court has remanded a foreign national into custody after he entered the TRNC two years ago using a counterfeit passport. The suspect was apprehended following a car accident.
The detained individual, named Ali Hasan, appeared before the court in Nicosia on charges of "using a forged official document," "obtaining registration through deception," and "impersonating another person."
During the proceedings, a police officer reported that the suspect arrived in Northern Cyprus via Erjan Airport on September 11, 2022, presenting a Pakistani passport issued in the name of Wasim Abbas Shah to the immigration officer on duty. It was later revealed that the document was fraudulent.
Authorities stated that the suspect was discovered nearly two years later due to a car accident that occurred on September 22, 2024, in Dörtyol, where he was arrested at the scene.
The police officer indicated that the suspect fully confessed to his guilt. The judge ordered that he be held in custody for three days.
