TRNC Approves Regulation for the Transfer of Low-Forest Lands
The Council of Ministers of the TRNC has approved the regulation concerning the transfer of low-forest areas, a decision officially published in the “Official Gazette.”
This regulation establishes the criteria and procedures for determining rightful owners, facilitating the transfer of property rights to individuals currently using state lands, cleared of low-forests before January 1, 1955, for agricultural purposes.
The Declaration Review Commission and the Appeals Commission are responsible for outlining the procedures for meetings and the operational framework, as well as preparing the required forms and documents to assess ownership rights. Notably, this regulation will expire in six months.
The decree applies to individuals and their legal heirs who acquired forest plots through the clearing of low-forest lands before January 1, 1955, and have since used these plots for agricultural purposes.
