In Northern Cyprus, the driver who hit a four-year-old girl last weekend has been released on bail. He will appear in court without pre-trial detention, provided that he pays a bail bond of 30,000 Turkish liras.

During the court session, a road management employee from Güzelyurt reminded that the accident occurred last Saturday, March 9, on Izettin Kombos Boulevard in Yukarı Boşandüz. At around 17:30, Serhat Yıldırım, driving a car, hit 4-year-old Ergün Topaloğlu, who was running to the parking lot along the sidewalk when turning right towards the park.

As a result of the collision, the child sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia with a fracture in the left foot and internal bleeding. Immediately after the accident, the driver was arrested and taken to court, which remanded him in custody for three days.

The police also stated that during these three days, the child continued to receive treatment in the hospital, and his life was not in danger. The necessary investigation has been conducted regarding the suspect. The police demanded that he be sent to trial without arrest.

The court decided to release the defendant on bail, provided that he pays a bail bond of 30,000 Turkish liras, and two guarantors sign a guarantee for 400,000 Turkish liras each. He will be prohibited from leaving the country until the trial.
