In Northern Cyprus, two individuals were injured in two separate accidents caused by drunk drivers. These incidents took place last night and this morning.

According to the police press service, the first accident occurred on the main road from Nicosia to Güzelyurt last night. A 39-year-old driver, intoxicated at the time, collided with a vehicle in front of him.

The impact caused the driver to lose control, veer onto the left side of the road, crash into a power pole, and overturn the car.

The injured driver was taken to Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia and was later discharged after treatment. A criminal case has been initiated against him.

The second accident happened this morning on the main road from Girne to Alsancak. A 20-year-old driver, also under the influence, was heading toward Girne when he crashed into a car that had stopped at a red light. That car then collided with a truck at the intersection.

In this accident, 74-year-old Edward William Smith, the driver of the second vehicle, sustained injuries. He is currently under medical observation at the State Hospital in Nicosia. The intoxicated driver responsible for the accident has been arrested.
