Suspect Arrested in Nicosia for Property Fraud Worth £520,000
A man suspected of involvement in property fraud totaling £520,000 has appeared in court in Nicosia. He is accused of selling real estate using forged documents.
The suspect, Enver Yücel, was arrested in Nicosia after authorities discovered he had fraudulently sold company-owned property worth £520,000 by using forged documentation. He faces charges of "document forgery," "circulating forged documents," and "fraudulently obtaining money."
During the court hearing, police explained that Yücel had prepared a fake power of attorney, falsely claiming he was authorized to act on behalf of the company in Nicosia. On September 3, 2024, he submitted this forged document to the Land Registry and sold the company's property.
Police also revealed that Yücel’s identity was confirmed on September 23. A search of his home and workplace uncovered 79,870 Turkish Lira.
Highlighting that the investigation is ongoing, the police requested Yücel's detention for three additional days to continue their inquiries. The judge approved the request and ordered Yücel to remain in custody for three more days.
