In Kyrenia, the memory of the Limassol Martyrs was honored

In Northern Cyprus, the memory of Turkish Cypriots who died during the resistance against attacks by Greek Cypriots in Limassol, which occurred 60 years ago, was commemorated. The memorial events took place today at the ceremony in front of the Monument to the Martyrs and Freedom of Limassol in Kyrenia.

The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic, Vice President Zorlu Töre, Governor of Kyrenia District Jemal Ozdemoglu, Garrison Commander Colonel Infantry Ahmet Tyumay on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot Peacekeeping Forces, Coast Guard Commander Colonel Marine Infantry Serdar Akan, Mayor of Kyrenia Murat Shenkul, as well as students from schools in the region, representatives of institutions, and associations.

The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths at the monument, a minute of silence, a salute, and the raising of flags accompanied by the National Anthem. After that, verses were recited by students from the American University of Kyrenia.
