Prices in Northern Cyprus Have Risen by Almost 33% Since the Beginning of the Year

The Statistical Institute of Northern Cyprus announced a March inflation rate of 4.48%. Since the beginning of the year, prices have risen by 32.99%, with annual inflation reaching 83.17%.

According to the published data, the highest price increases last month were in utility bills: housing, water, electricity, and gas costs rose by 10.03%. In the category of "Restaurants and Hotels," prices increased by 9.44%, and in "Other Goods and Services," they rose by 7.64%.

"Education" saw a rise of 6.19%, "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" increased by 5.53%, and "Health" expenses grew by 4.69%.

Compared to the previous month, prices for 487 items included in the index rose, while 58 items became cheaper.

The largest price hikes were recorded for cauliflower, up by 164.44%, lettuce by 97.46%, and vehicle inspection fees by 84.91%.

Watermelons decreased by 45.30%, melons by 37.13%, and parsley by 31.57%.
