Six Accidents Occur in Northern Cyprus in One Day: One Animal Killed

On July 7, Northern Cyprus witnessed six road accidents in a single day. One person was injured, and one animal was killed in these incidents.

According to the police press service, drunk drivers were responsible for five of these accidents. All five individuals have been arrested, and criminal cases have been initiated against them.

The first accident occurred around 15:30 in Lapta. A 27-year-old driver, under the influence of alcohol, was traveling on Fevzi Cakmak Street. Attempting to overtake, the driver lost control and collided with the front right side of the vehicle ahead. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.

The next accident took place around 18:30 on Uciteler Street in Gonyeli Enikente. Involved in this accident was a 45-year-old intoxicated driver. Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the collision of the two vehicles.

Thirty minutes later, at 20:00, another accident occurred on Okullar Yolu Street in Ulukislae. A 16-year-old teenager driving a car hit a dog. The animal died at the scene. The driver faces criminal charges for driving without a license, insurance, and causing a road accident.

At 21:00 on Bedrettin Demirel Street in Nicosia, a 23-year-old driver collided with a motorcycle that was changing lanes. The motorcyclist was injured and taken to Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital for medical observation.

Also at 21:00, at the 1st kilometer of the Nicosia-Guzelyurt main road, a 40-year-old driver under the influence caused an accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this collision.

Another multi-vehicle accident occurred around 22:00 on the main road between Unimar Chamberi and Lokum Chamberi in Iskele. This accident involved a 30-year-old intoxicated driver, and a total of four cars were involved. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this accident either.
