A New School Year Begins in Northern Cyprus

On Monday, September 23, the new 2024-2025 school year officially kicked off in public primary, secondary, and high schools across the TRNC. Classes were originally scheduled to begin last week but were postponed by a decision from the Council of Ministers.

Before the start of classes, Nazım Çavuşoğlu, the Minister of National Education, addressed students and their parents.

“I hope this new semester will bring benefits to all our students, teachers, parents, and the entire educational community. I am confident that we will have a year filled with success, health, and productivity,” the minister remarked.

Notably, today at 9:15 AM, Minister Çavuşoğlu participated in the opening of a new primary school building in Çatalköy, built in collaboration with the Çatalköy – Esentepe Municipality.

As previously reported, in this school year, approximately 28,000 students will enroll in 128 public and private schools under the Department of Primary Education. An additional 30,000 students will attend 48 public and private schools governed by the Department of General Secondary Education.

Moreover, around 4,000 students from vocational high schools will study at 13 institutions under the Department of Vocational and Technical Education.

The total number of teachers working in public and private schools throughout the TRNC is approximately 6,300.
