Russian Consular Office in Northern Nicosia Serves 10,000 Nationals
In the year since its opening, the Russian Consular Office in northern Nicosia has served 10,000 Russian nationals, according to Murat Ziazikov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus.
The ambassador described the opening of the consular office in northern Cyprus last August as a "truly historic milestone" in their engagement with Russian nationals.
"Recently, as we marked the anniversary of this event, we were pleased to welcome our ten-thousandth visitor to the consular office. This impressive milestone, along with the steady increase in the number of requests from Russians, highlights the significant demand for our humanitarian presence in the region," said the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Cyprus.
The Russian Embassy began offering consular services in northern Cyprus in mid-August of last year. Since August 14, 2023, the Consular Section has moved its operations from the buffer zone to the center of Lefkoşa.
It is also noted that, according to some sources, there are currently more than 50,000 Russians residing in Northern Cyprus.
