The Cyprus Problem Resolution Group will hold its first meeting on Friday, August 23, since its establishment in April of the previous year.

The meeting has been convened by the Greek Cypriot negotiator, Menelaos Menelaou, at the request of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.

This meeting comes after the Republic of Cyprus agreed to allow Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to participate in an informal EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting on August 29. It also precedes the United Nations General Assembly in September and a potential three-way meeting between the UN Secretary-General and the leaders of the two communities.

The role of this political group is to advise the President of the Republic. The meeting is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. at the Presidential Palace.

According to CNA, the agenda will include a briefing and discussion on recent developments on the island. The Cyprus Problem team includes Panayotis Demetriou, Chris Triantafyllides, Giorgos Koukouras, Giorgos Lukaides, Christiana Erotokritou, Chris Pantelidis, Stavros Aggelides, Giorgos Georgiou, Menelaos Kyprianou, Giorgos Poisis, Christos Iosifides, and Kyriakos Tsimmilis.
